Registered Dietitian, Full Time Term
(September 2011 - October 2012)

Location: Open to Dauphin, Winnipeg or Thompson Office.

The Diabetes Integration Project Inc. is recruiting for a Registered Dietitian whom will play an important role in the diabetes care and treatment service delivery to diabetes clients within 19 First Nation communities.

Job Summary:

The Registered Dietitian will support the Mobile Diabetes Health Care Service Delivery Teams to provide the nutrition component in the delivery of diabetes care and treatment services including:

  • Diabetes Complication and Risk Factor Assessment
  • Point of Care Testing - DCA 2000 Analyzer/Cholestech LDX Analyzer
  • Assess Emotional Wellness, Nutrition and Physical Activity Screening
  • Diabetes Education Counselling
  • Capacity Building/Knowledge Translation - Community Health Staff and Clients
  • Referral Services
  • Data Entry

The work involves extensive travel to 19 First Nation communities in Manitoba. The incumbent must be flexible and be able to travel the first three weeks out of the month and upon request as needed. The incumbent will work out of the Diabetes Integration Project office in€“ Winnipeg, Thompson, or Dauphin.

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Registered Dietitian with relevant knowledge and experience in foods and nutrition
  • Certified Diabetes Educator Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of the principles of health education and disease prevention programming
  • Knowledge of First Nation Health Programs
  • Proficiency in computer software programs
  • Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating practice tools
  • Experience in strategies to improve diabetes self-management outcomes
  • Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work collectively with the Advisory and Steering Committees
  • Must have valid Manitoba Drivers License
  • Knowledge of First Nation customs, values and traditions

Salary: Based on qualifications, education and experience.
